Blinn qualifies for Collegiate Valorant grand finals

The Blinn College Valorant team qualified for its second championship match this season, knocking off Texas A&M University Maroon 3-0 in the Collegiate Valorant South Spring tournament winners final Thursday.

Competing for the Buccaneers were Bruce Nguyen, Hayden Whitaker, Austin Ray, Teague Morgan, and Adam Laamoumi, a quintet which will also compete for the NJCAA Esports Valorant championship on Friday, April 21.

Blinn's victory on Thursday moves its Valorant squad to the Collegiate Valorant grand finals scheduled for Sunday, April 30. The time of the match and the Bucs' opponent have yet to be determined.

"We stayed composed the entire series, and even when we fell behind early, we managed to come back and take each map," Blinn head coach Aaron Kapiko said. "We've made the grand finals from the winners side for the first time this year and we are looking the best we have all season."

Blinn has competed in intercollegiate athletics since 1903 and captured 43 NJCAA national championships since 1987.
