Blinn Overwatch sweeps Missouri State-West Plains 

 

The Blinn College esports team earned a 3-0 Overwatch victory over Missouri State University-West Plains in a best-of-three NJCAA match on Friday.

The victory improved the Buccaneer Overwatch squad to 2-0 in NJCAA play this season and kept Blinn tied with the University of South Carolina-Sumter and Jackson College for first place in the conference standings.

Starting for the Bucs were sophomores Gabriel Lopez, William Bowman, William Rossley, Aaron Lazo, and George Francis, while freshmen Ezekiel Bernheim and Connor Frank subbed into the match for rounds two and three.

Blinn Overwatch continues its season with a match against Lincoln Land Community College at 4 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 4. The Buccaneers will compete in a trio of matches on Monday, Oct. 31, starting with a Rocket League match against the University of Missouri-Columbia at 6 p.m. Blinn Valorant will battle Rogers State University Red at 7 p.m., and Rocket League will be in action again when it faces the University of Central Missouri at 7:30 p.m.

Blinn has competed in intercollegiate athletics since 1903 and captured 42 NJCAA national championships since 1987.
