Blinn Call of Duty upsets Central in NJCAAE playoffs

The Blinn College esports team earned a playoff victory in Call of Duty action Monday, as the sixth-seeded Buccaneers topped No. 3 seed Central Community College 3-1 in the quarterfinal round.

Blinn moves on to the NJCAA Esports semifinals, where it will battle second-seeded St. Claire Community College at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday, April 11. 

Competing for the Bucs were Jake Marsh, Landon Campos, Jaiden Walker, and David Rodriguez.

"I couldn't be prouder of this team," Blinn assistant coach Ryan Lucich said. "They continued putting in the work after a long series of tough defeats and that work was finally shown off in the most important match of the season to date."

Blinn has competed in intercollegiate athletics since 1903 and captured 43 NJCAA national championships since 1987.
