The Blinn College esports program earned a pair of wins in the Collegiate Valorant Playoffs over the weekend.
The Buccaneer Valorant team defeated the University of Florida 2-0 in a best-of-three match in the opening round Saturday, April 1, before advancing past the University of Houston Alpha by way of forfeit in the second round. Blinn moves into the double-elimination round of eight, where they will continue their trek toward a national championship starting with a tilt against Oklahoma Christian University at 3 p.m. on Saturday, April 15.
Competing for the Bucs this weekend were Hayden Whitaker, Austin Ray, Adam Lammoumi, Teague Morgan, and Bruce Nguyen.
"We're happy to once again advance to the double-elimination round of the spring tournament," head coach Aaron Kapiko said. "We have improved greatly over the past several weeks and we are getting into our best form at the right time."
Blinn has competed in intercollegiate athletics since 1903 and captured 42 NJCAA national championships since 1987.
