Blinn's Rocket League team opens season with a shutout win

 
 
 

The Blinn College esports team earned a season-opening victory in a Rocket League match against Nichols College on Monday.

The Buccaneers earned a 3-0 sweep, winning the three matches 4-0, 2–0, and 6-0.

Leading Blinn to victory was a lineup of freshmen Andrew Askins and Jordan Johnson and sophomore Cade Mock.

Blinn's Valorant team was also in action Monday and dropped a 2-0 decision to the University of St. Thomas.

Competing for the Bucs were freshmen Hayden Whitaker, Shawn Fox, Adam Laamoumi, and Khan Dewey, as well as sophomore Austin Ray.

Blinn's Rocket League team returns to action against Oakland University at 6 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 26, while the Valorant team will face Texas A&M University White, also at 6 p.m. on Monday. On Thursday, Sept. 29, Blinn's Super Smash Bros team will take on Irvine Valley College at 6 p.m.

Blinn has competed in intercollegiate athletics since 1903 and captured 42 NJCAA national championships since 1987.
