"They have a very solid roster, so this was our first real test as a team," said Blinn assistant coach Kyle Murto, who oversees the Rocket League team. "They are definitely one of the strongest teams in our conference, so this is a good sign, and I think we have a very strong chance of finishing out as the number one seed from our conference.

"The players were definitely excited about the win, especially after spending all of last week prepping for this matchup."

Competing for the Buccaneers were freshmen Andrew Askins and Jordan Johnson along with sophomore Cade Mock.

Rocket League is 2-0 this season.

"We played well and took down a solid team that is probably in the top 25 in the country," Blinn head coach Aaron Kapiko said. "This was a good win for us, and it was nice to see us bounce back after a tough loss last. I was proud of the work the team put in since last week to be prepared."

The winning lineup for the Bucs was made up of sophomore Austin Ray and freshmen Hayden Whitaker, Shawn Fox, Khanh Dewey, and Adam Laamoumi.

Rocket League and Valorant will return to action Monday, Oct. 3 at 6 p.m. Rocket League will take on Rochester Institute of Technology, while Valorant will face the University of Houston Alpha team.
