The Blinn College esports Overwatch team earned two wins in the Overwatch College Championship Series on Saturday.
On the opening day of the tournament, which is hosted by Overwatch developer Activision, the Bucs defeated Harper College 2-0 in round one before shutting out West Chester University 2-0 in round two. Both matches were decided in a best-of-three format.

Starting for Blinn in the opening victory were Gabriel Lopez, William Bowman, Jake Langridge, Matthew Hutchings, and Nicholas Behney. Ezekiel Bernheim also competed for the Bucs during the match.
In their second win of the day, it was again the starting crew of Lopez, Bowman, Langridge, Hutchings and Behney who led the way.
"Today's matches for the most part were fairly easy, as we did not meet much resistance versus either team," Blinn assistant coach Kyle Murto said. "It was a great start to this tournament. We are really hoping to progress far into this competition and hopefully get the chance to take down some big-name schools that have previously beaten us in the past."
Blinn will continue play in the Series at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 23.
Blinn has competed in intercollegiate athletics since 1903 and captured 42 NJCAA national championships since 1987.
