Blinn College men’s soccer players Farit Ha and Connor Spiller sign with four-year programs

Blinn College men's soccer players Farit Ha (Houston) and Connor Spiller (Houston) signed letters of intent to continue their academic and playing careers with four-year programs.

Ha, a sophomore midfielder, signed with Davis & Elkins College, while Spiller, a sophomore defender signed with the University of St. Thomas in Houston.

"As pioneers of the Blinn soccer program, we are thankful for Connor and Farit's commitment in establishing the program in its first two years," Blinn head coach Michael McBride said. "Farit's natural ability, and drive saw him lead Region XIV in goals in his sophomore season and we know Davis & Elkins is getting an absolute gem from us. Connor's presence throughout the 2019 campaign was immense and he helped lead a back four in which he was the only sophomore."

In 2019, Ha earned NJCAA Region XIV honors after leading the region in shots, goals, and points. He played in 17 games, scored 17 goals on 46 shots, and recorded two assists. He led Blinn with a .370 shooting percentage. He also was named to the United Soccer Coaches Junior College Division I Men's All-Region Team. In two seasons with the Buccaneers, Ha played in 32 games and started 27. He totaled 22 goals and seven assists.

"I am very thrilled to be playing at a four-year school this fall and I look forward to finishing school and scoring more goals at Davis & Elkins," Ha said. "I have learned a lot of valuable lessons at Blinn, and the coaches and the boys always push me to do better. I'll miss scoring goals with my teammates in front of the home crowd and every aspect of being a Buccaneer."

In two seasons at Blinn, Spiller played in 24 games and starting 20.

"Ha is going to make an immediate impact at Davis and Elkins, and the University of St. Thomas is getting a player in Spiller who leaves nothing on the field and is a leader of men," McBride said. "We give them both our heartfelt thanks and look forward to watching their progress at the next level."

Blinn finished the 2019-20 season with a program-best 10-7-1 overall record. The Buccaneers claimed a spot in the NJCAA Region XIV Men's Soccer Championship Tournament as the No. 3 seed with a 9-4-1 conference record and advanced to the quarterfinals.

Blinn has competed in intercollegiate athletics since 1903 and captured 41 NJCAA national championships since 1987.
