Josh Stone scores OT winner as Blinn tops Laredo, 2-1

LAREDO, Texas — Josh Stone scored a corner kick goal in overtime for the Blinn College men's soccer team (10-4-1, 9-3-1) to defeat Laredo College, 2-1, for its 10th win of the season.

"This overtime win was a nice way to finish two long road trips this weekend," said Michael McBride, Blinn head coach.

On offense, Blinn totaled 12 shots with Stefan Fevrier Sildor leading the Buccaneers with four shots, and Stone following with three. On defense, JT McCoy recorded six saves.

Laredo scored its only goal in the 39th minute to lead 1-0 at the halftime mark. Fevrier Sildor tied the game 1-1 in the 60th minute to eventually send the game into overtime. Then, Stone kicked the golden goal in the 106th minute for Blinn to get the 2-1 victory.

Next, the Buccaneers will take a break from conference play against Louisiana State University Eunice on Wednesday, Oct. 20, at 7 p.m. at Rankin Field. The women's soccer team will start the doubleheader at 5 p.m.

Blinn has competed in intercollegiate athletics since 1903 and captured 41 NJCAA national championships since 1987.
