Blinn men’s soccer downs Jacksonville, 3-0

JACKSONVILLE, Texas — Blinn College men's soccer (2-2, 2-1) displayed a strong offense and defense to earn a 3-0 conference victory over Jacksonville College on Sunday afternoon.

"I am very pleased with all of the players for getting another win," said Michael McBride, Blinn head coach. "The defense has been really good for us in not allowing goals and scoring three goals today was fantastic."

On defense, goalie JT McCoy led Blinn with five saves. On the offensive side, Farit Ha led with two goals, while Zane Marshall scored one. Ethan Unger and Seth Donelan each recorded an assist in the match.

In the 15th minute, Unger assisted Ha in scoring Blinn's first goal for a 1-0 lead. In the 44th minute, Donelan passed the ball to Marshall who scored for the Buccaneers to lead 2-0 at the half.

Ha scored Blinn's final goal on a penalty kick in the 54th minute for the Buccaneers to hold a 3-0 advantage.

Next, the Buccaneers will compete against Mountain View College in its home opener at Rankin Field on Tuesday, Sept. 10, at 7 p.m. The women's team will start the doubleheader against Mountain View at 5 p.m.

Blinn has competed in intercollegiate athletics since 1903 and captured 41 NJCAA national championships since 1987.
