Blinn men’s soccer falls to Angelina, 3-1

BRENHAM, Texas — The Blinn College men's soccer team (10-6-1, 9-4-1) fell to Angelina College in the final game of the regular season on Saturday night at Rankin Field.

Despite the loss, the Buccaneers will enter the NJCAA Region XIV Men's Soccer Championship Tournament and host their first game at Rankin Field on Tuesday, Oct. 29, at 7 p.m.

"The men's team has taken the program to a different level and set the bar even higher, so I am really pleased with what they have done," said Michael McBride, Blinn head coach. "It is awesome to have home-field advantage in the Region XIV tournament. We have leaned on our sophomores and their experience, and they have been a huge part of helping a really young team."

Farit Ha led Blinn with one goal, while Marco Rodriguez Jr., Coleman Hatfield and Stefan Fevrier Sildor each had shots on goal. JT McCoy recorded six saves in the game.

Ha scored the first goal of the game in the 12th minute for Blinn to take a 1-0 lead. Angelina scored the next three goals in the 24th, 27th, and 46th minutes to claim the 3-1 win.

"I have grown a special bond with this team from preseason all the way to where we are now," Ha said. "It is very exciting that we are moving on to the playoffs and is very special that we will get to play at home in front of our fans. We want to get a win for them and  go far into the tournament."

Blinn has competed in intercollegiate athletics since 1903 and captured 41 NJCAA national championships since 1987.
