Blinn falls to No. 5 LSU Eunice, 3-2

BRENHAM, Texas — The Blinn College men's soccer team (10-5-1, 9-3-1) outshot No. 5 Louisiana State University Eunice despite falling to the Bengals 3-2 on Wednesday night at Rankin Field.

Blinn managed 12 shots in the nonconference matchup, while LSU Eunice recorded 10 shots. Coleman Hatfield and Ethan Unger led the offense with one goal each, while Stefan Fevrier Sildor recorded an assist. On defense, JT McCoy recorded five saves.

The Bengals scored the first two goals at the 27th and 47th minutes for an early 2-0 lead.

Fevrier Sildor assisted Hatfield in Blinn's first goal in the 61st minute to cut LSU Eunice's lead in half, 2-1.

LSU Eunice quickly answered back with a goal in the 63rd minute to pull ahead 3-1.

Unger scored on a free kick for Blinn's final goal in the 84th minute.

Next, the men's and women's soccer teams will play in the final games of the regular season against Angelina College at Rankin Field. The games will feature Sophomore Night with the women's game starting at 5 p.m. and the men's game starting at 7 p.m.

Blinn has competed in intercollegiate athletics since 1903 and captured 41 NJCAA national championships since 1987.
