BELLVILLE, Texas — The Blinn College men's soccer team (10-7-1) fell to Angelina College, 5-4, in the Region XIV quarterfinals on Wednesday night at Brahma Stadium.

With the loss, the Buccaneers conclude the season with a 10-7-1 record.

"For the youngest team in the Region XIV conference to have the kind of season that they had went beyond my expectations and I think the future is going to be really exciting," said Michael McBride, Blinn head coach. "I am so proud of the sophomores because there was only a handful of them and they had a lot of responsibility. I am thrilled about what we did this season and look forward to next season when we return a lot of players with great experience." 

On offense, Orlando led the Buccaneers with seven shots and two goals, while Martin Reyes and Farit Ha each scored one goal. Josh Stone and Ha each scored an assist in the game. On defense, JT McCoy recorded seven saves.

Angelina got things rolling by scoring three goals in the first half. The Roadrunners scored the first goal in the 35th minute, scored on a header in the 39th minute, and on a corner kick in the 41st minute to lead 3-0 at the half.

The Buccaneers worked their way out of an early deficit by outscoring Angelina 4-2 in the second half.

The Buccaneers were the first to get on the board in the final half when Stone assisted Reyes in scoring in the 51st minute. However, Angelina answered back immediately in the 52nd minute to lead 4-1. 

Blinn cut Angelina's lead in half in the 70th minute when Orlando scored off a pass by Berrios, but the Roadrunners took a three-point lead (5-2) once again when they scored in the 82nd minute. 

Ha played a crucial role in the Buccaneers scoring the final two goals of the game. He assisted Orlando in scoring in the 85th minute and then scored on a penalty kick in the 86th minute for Blinn to trail 5-4. 

Blinn has competed in intercollegiate athletics since 1903 and captured 41 NJCAA national championships since 1987.
