Blinn men’s soccer loses to Northeast Texas, 2-1

MOUNT PLEASANT, Texas — The Blinn College men's soccer team (8-4, 7-3) fell to Northeast Texas Community College, 2-1, on Friday.

"The best team won because we played poor today and that is unfortunate because it could have been a better game," said Michael McBride, Blinn head coach. "We are looking to bounce back on Sunday."

Farit Ha and Stefan Fevrier Sildor combined for three shots, while Fevrier Sildor scored the Buccaneers' sole goal to lead Blinn's offense.

On defense, Blinn goalkeeper JT McCoy recorded three saves in the match.

Blinn opened the game with a 1-0 lead when Fevrier Sildor scored in the 20th minute. The Eagles were able to tie the game in the 23rd minute for the score to be even at the half. They scored their final goal in the 73rd minute that led to a 2-1 win.

Next, the Blinn men's soccer team will travel to compete against Paris Junior College on Sunday, Oct. 13, at 4 p.m. The women's soccer team will open the doubleheader at 2 p.m.

Blinn has competed in intercollegiate athletics since 1903 and captured 41 NJCAA national championships since 1987.
