No. 20 Blinn finishes Coastal Bend, 5-3

BRENHAM, Texas — Farit Ha scored three goals to help lead No. 20 Blinn College men's soccer (7-2, 6-1) to a 5-3 win over Coastal Bend College on Saturday night at Rankin Field. 

The win marks Blinn's sixth conference win of the season.

"I am really pleased to make it through a long run of games with another win," said Michael McBride, Blinn head coach. "They did great and I am happy with the result."

Ha led the offense with three goals, while Josh Stone and Stefan Fevrier Sildor each scored one. On defense, JT McCoy recorded six saves.

Blinn jumped out to a 2-0 lead after Ha scored in the 8th minute, and in the 17th minute on a corner kick. Coastal Bend cut Blinn's lead in half in the 36th minute.

The Buccaneers went into the second half of the game with a 2-1 lead and increased it to 3-1 in the 47th minute when Stone scored. Blinn pulled ahead 4-1 in the 70th minute as Ha scored his third goal of the game.

Coastal Bend scored one minute later to gain on Blinn 4-2, however the Buccaneers answered back in the 86th minute when Fevrier Sildor scored.

Coastal Bend scored its final goal in the 89th minute for the 5-3 final.

Next, Blinn will compete against No. 2 Tyler Junior College on Friday, Oct. 4, at 7 p.m. at Rankin Field. 

Blinn has competed in intercollegiate athletics since 1903 and captured 41 NJCAA national championships since 1987.
