Blinn men’s soccer opens conference season with 4-1 win over Angelina

LUFKIN, Texas — Farit Ha scored three goals to help lead the Blinn College men's soccer team (1-1, 1-0) to a 4-1 victory over Angelina College to open the conference season on Saturday.

"This was a great start to the conference season," said Michael McBride, Blinn head coach.

Ha was impressive on offense, leading the Buccaneers with three goals. Stefan Fevrier Sildor followed with one goal, while Israel Macias Martinez recorded an assist.

On defense, J.T. McCoy led Blinn with three saves, while Luke Thompson recorded one.

Ha scored the first goal for Blinn, while Macias Martinez recorded the assist, in the 17th minute.

Ha scored on a penalty kick in the 26th minute, and Fevrier Sildor scored a goal in the 36th minute for Blinn to lead 3-0 at the half.

Ha scored his third goal and the final goal for the Buccaneers in the 49th minute for Blinn to pull ahead 4-0.

Angelina scored its only goal of the game in the 89th minute on a penalty kick.

Next, Blinn will travel to Tyler Junior College for a conference match on Friday, Sept.6, at 7 p.m. The women's team will take the field against Tyler at 5 p.m.

Blinn has competed in intercollegiate athletics since 1903 and captured 41 NJCAA national championships since 1987.
