No. 4 Tyler slips past Blinn, 1-0

TYLER, Texas — Blinn College men's soccer (1-2, 1-1) played a strong defensive game in order to hold No. 4 Tyler Junior College to one goal, but that was all the Apaches needed for a 1-0 conference win on Saturday night.

"To play a team as good as Tyler is good for a team as young as we are," said Michael McBride, Blinn head coach. "We really played well and learned a lot about ourselves. We managed to create some chances and are looking forward to playing Tyler again in Brenham."

On defense, JT McCoy led the Buccaneers with eight saves. The Buccaneers were led on offense by Farit Ha and totaled six shots on goal.

The Apaches scored their only goal on a penalty kick in the 15th minute before the Buccaneers shut Tyler's offense down the remainder of the game.

Next, Blinn will travel to face off against Jacksonville College in a conference game on Sunday, September 8, at 4 p.m. The women's soccer team will take the field at 2 p.m.

Blinn has competed in intercollegiate athletics since 1903 and captured 41 NJCAA national championships since 1987.
