Blinn men’s soccer outlasts Paris, 5-3

BRENHAM, Texas — On Sunday afternoon at Rankin Field, the Blinn College men's soccer team (5-2, 4-1) fought off Paris Junior College to earn a conference win, 5-3.

"It was an unbelievable game and I was really pleased with how the men overcame the adversity in the first half with a really solid performance in the second half," said Michael McBride, Blinn head coach. "I couldn't be happier with the win and how we came back."

Derek Norsworthy and Farit Ha led Blinn with two goals apiece, while Stefan Fevrier Sildor scored one. Coleman Hatfield, Jacob Farrington and Brook Williams each recorded an assist in the win.

On defense, JT McCoy recorded eight saves for the Buccaneers.

Blinn managed the first goal of the contest in the first minute as Hatfield handed the ball off for Norsworthy to score. Paris scored the next two goals in the 16th and 30th minutes to lead 2-1 at the half.

Blinn came out of the half and quickly scored in the 45th minute as Farrington assisted Ha on the goal. Ha assisted Norsworthy in Blinn's next goal for the Buccaneers to lead 3-2 in the 49th minute. The Buccaneers took a 4-2 lead when Ha scored on a penalty kick.

Paris worked its way back into the game by scoring in the 57th minute to trail 4-3. However, Blinn kept Paris off the board for the remainder of the game. Williams assisted Fevrier Sildor in scoring Blinn's final goal in the 68th minute.

Next, Blinn will host Laredo College at Rankin Field on Friday, Sept. 20, at 5 p.m.

Blinn has competed in intercollegiate athletics since 1903 and captured 41 NJCAA national championships since 1987.
