Buccaneers ranked 16th in nation

The Blinn women's basketball team is continuing its ascent in the national rankings.

The 16th-ranked Buccaneers moved up on spot in the NJCAA national poll released today. It's a climb the Bucs have continued since moving back into the national rankings the previous week.

Blinn faces top-ranked Trinity Valley in the Blinn P.E. Building tonight at 5:30. The Bucs' last loss came on Jan. 8 to the Lady Cardinals in their first game back from the holiday break. Since then, Blinn has reeled off a five-game winning streak that includes an upset over then eighth-ranked Tyler Junior College, who's ranked 17th in the latest national poll.

The Bucs are led sophomore forward Fatima Adams, who's averaging nearly 22 points and more than 11 rebounds per game. Sophomore Katrina Hayden is putting up 9.6 points a contest, and transfer Tayler Weiks is averaging 9.5 points, including a 37 percent shooting percentage from the 3-point line.
