Buccaneers close out road swing with 92-65 victory

BOSSIER CITY, La. – After a 15-minute back-and-forth contest to open the game, the 17th-ranked Blinn women's basketball team got the stops it needed to pull away from Bossier Parish here Saturday.

As such, the Buccaneers beat the Lady Cavaliers 92-65.

"We couldn't get a stop the first 15 minutes," Blinn (17-3, 7-1 Region XIV) coach Jeff Jenkins said. "Bossier Parish played really good offensively and hit some shots."

Once the defense got the stops, the offense took care of the rest.

Sophomore post Fatima Adams put up a 24-point first-half performance on her way to a team-high 33 points. Katrina Hayden scored 11 points, and Amari Jones scored nine.

The Bucs played 10 players in the game, which Jenkins said helped towards the end of the game. Where Bossier Parish grew tired, Blinn was able to rotate in fresh legs.

"Bossier Parish wasn't hitting the shots at the end of the game that they were at the beginning," Jenkins said.

The game ended a three-game road trip for the Bucs. They return home Wednesday night to face No. 1-ranked Trinity Valley at 5:30 p.m. Trinity Valley handed the Bucs their lone conference loss of the season on Jan. 8, 105-70.
