On the day she was named the NJCAA Division I Women's Basketball Player of the Week, Blinn sophomore Fatima Adams turned in another dominant performance.

Adams, a sophomore from Rudder High School, scored 29 points and led the Buccaneers past Temple College 79-57 here at the Blinn P.E. Building Wednesday night.

"She's as good of a player as I've had offensively," Blinn (11-2) coach Jeff Jenkins said. "She can score in so many different ways: in the low post, in transition, off an offensive rebound, a jump shot, a 3-pointer. She's dangerous."

The Bucs are turning out to be quite dangerous, too.

The winners of nine straight games, Blinn avenged an earlier loss to Temple, 81-61, on the road Nov. 12.

"It was nice to get them at home," Jenkins said. "They beat us by 20 at their place and it was one of our worst losses in awhile. But we've improved quite a bit since then."

Tierra Tucker, Katrina Hayden, Shunta Nevitt and Brianna Luton each scored nine points in the victory. Of the 10 players who played, nine scored.

"As a coach, you'd like to have a set rotation of players, but these girls haven't separated from each other," Jenkins said. "They're all playing well right now."

While the winning streak has been because of all-around team performances, Adams has led the charge.

During a three-game stretch Dec. 2-8, Adams averaged 30 points per game and 12.6 rebounds en route to her first player of the week honor. On the season, she's averaging 23.1 points per game and 12.6 rebounds.

"She had a special week last week," Jenkins said. "This is a big honor for her."

Her biggest improvement from her freshman campaign, Jenkins said, has been her ability to score in transition.

"Teams are going to slow her down, but she's tough to stop," he said.

For the past nine games, slowing down the Bucs has proved equally as difficult.
