Adams drops 33 points in Buccaneers’ win

Fatima Adams is filling her role as the offensive leader for the Blinn women's basketball team quite nicely.

Adams, a sophomore post from Bryan Rudder, scored a season-high 33 points and the Buccaneers blew past Coastal Bend 101-51 Saturday at the Blinn P.E. Building.

"She's a so talented offensively," Blinn (2-1) coach Jeff Jenkins said. "Right now, we need her to carry us on offense."

Through three games, Adams is averaging 26 points per game.

Blinn stormed out to a 44-13 lead at halftime, then put up 57 second-half points.

The offense got more production from Tayler Weiks, a transfer from the University of Idaho, who hit five 3-pointers and scored 17 points.

"She needed that," Jenkins said. "Lately she's been struggling to hit those shots, but she got some open looks tonight, and hopefully that'll help her confidence going forward."

Shunta Nevitt scored 13 points, Katrina Hayden scored 12 and Alexus Freeman, a freshman from Navasota High School, scored 10.
