Blinn College sophomore guard Alexus Brigham (Fort Worth) and sophomore forwards Missy Archie (Huntsville) and Alexus Wykoff (Magnolia) each claimed Region XIV honors after leading the Buccaneers to the conference tournament quarterfinals.

"These sophomores did a lot for this team," said Jeff Jenkins, Blinn head coach. "They were our three best players, our leading scorers and rebounders, led us in practice and in games, and led us in the locker room and in the classroom. They couldn't have done more for our team."

Archie was named all-region and all-conference after leading Blinn in scoring with 14.6 points per game and rebounds with 8.6 per game. She scored a season-high 26 points in two games against Victoria College on Nov. 19 and Bossier Parish Community College on Feb. 20, and recorded nine double-doubles this year. Throughout Archie's two seasons starting for Blinn, she totaled 578 points and 417 rebounds.

"It is an honor to achieve this kind of accomplishment," Archie said. "I have been working really hard because I wanted to earn this. Without Coach Jenkins and Coach Brianna Luton I would not be where I am today."

Wykoff and Brigham earned honorable mention after ranking second and third on the team in scoring.

Wykoff posted 14 points per game and 6.5 rebounds per game and recorded a team-high 36 points against Paris Junior College on March 2. In her two seasons at Blinn, she recorded 412 points and 251 rebounds.

"I worked really hard this season, so it is really exciting to earn this kind of honor," Wykoff said.

Brigham led the Buccaneers with 4.8 assists per game and tallied 11.5 points per game.

"This is a great way to conclude my sophomore season and I am really happy to have received such an honor," Brigham said.

Blinn finished the season with a 12-19 overall record and a 5-13 mark in Region XIV play. The Buccaneers lost to No. 4 Trinity Valley 88-52 in the NJCAA Region XIV Tournament quarterfinals.

Blinn has competed in intercollegiate athletics since 1903 and captured 38 NJCAA national championships since 1987.
