WACO, Texas — Blinn College women's basketball (6-7, 0-3) defeated Hill College, 86-81, to open the McLennan Community College Classic on Wednesday afternoon.
"It was nice to get a win after three weeks off," said Jeff Jenkins, Blinn head coach.
Missy Archie recorded 25 points to lead Blinn's offense. Jordan Sanders was next with 14 points, Imani Wimbish-Gay and Alexus Brigham each recorded 12 and Mariel Wade followed with 10.
The Buccaneers held a slim 23-22 lead in the opening quarter before Hill gained a 39-35 advantage at the half.
Hill held a 60-57 lead entering the final quarter, but the Buccaneers managed to outscore the Rebels 29-21 to rally for the win.
The Buccaneers will finish the McLennan Community College Classic against Collin County Community College on Thursday, Jan. 3, at 3 p.m.
Blinn has competed in intercollegiate athletics since 1903 and captured 38 NJCAA national championships since 1987.
