Blinn men’s and women’s basketball teams headed to the Region XIV Tournament

The Blinn College men's and women's basketball teams will compete in the NJCAA Region XIV Tournament March 5-9 at the Centenary College Gold Dome in Shreveport, La.

The men's basketball team enters the tournament as the No. 4 team in the South Division after finishing the season with a 21-9 overall record and 8-9 conference record. The women enter the postseason as the No. 7 seed after concluding the regular season with a 12-18 overall record and a 5-13 conference mark.

The men's basketball team will take the court first as the Buccaneers take on the East Division's No. 5 seed, Kilgore College, at 1 p.m. Tuesday, March 5.

The women's basketball team will compete against fourth-ranked Trinity Valley, the  tournament's No. 2 seed, at 6 p.m. Wednesday, March 6.

The top men's and women's teams from the tournament will advance to the NJCAA Division I Men's and Women's Basketball Championships in Hutchinson, Kan. and Lubbock, respectively.

Blinn has competed in intercollegiate athletics since 1903 and captured 38 NJCAA national championships since 1987.
