Blinn women’s basketball takes down Jacksonville, 62-53

JACKSONVILLE, Texas — Blinn College women's basketball (9-9, 3-4) took down Jacksonville College, 62-53, on Saturday afternoon. 

"Jacksonville is a very tough place to play and I am proud of the team for coming out in the second half and grinding out a win," said Jeff Jenkins, Blinn head coach. 

Missy Archie led the Buccaneers with 15 points, while Alexus Brigham and Alexus Wykoff added 12 apiece and Kristine Ezimako chipped in 11. 

After Jacksonville opened the first quarter with a 10-9 lead, Blinn evened the score 24-24 at the half. The Buccaneers began to pull away in the third quarter to take a 45-35 lead. Blinn added 17 points to the score in the final quarter for the win.

The Buccaneers will head home to take on No. 14 Angelina College on Wednesday, Jan. 23, at 5:30 p.m. in the Kruse Center.

Blinn has competed in intercollegiate athletics since 1903 and captured 38 NJCAA national championships since 1987.
