Blinn women’s basketball falls to No. 14 Angelina, 68-55

LUFKIN, Texas — Kristine Ezimako led the Buccaneers with 17 points and nine rebounds against No. 14 Angelina College, but Blinn College women's basketball was unable to defeat the Lady Roadrunners, falling 68-55 Wednesday night. 

With the loss, the Buccaneers drop to 11-18 overall and 4-13 in Region XIV play. 

"I am proud of our fight tonight until the final buzzer," said Jeff Jenkins, Blinn head coach. 

Missy Archie followed Ezimako with 15 points, while Alexus Wykoff scored 14 points and recorded seven rebounds. Ezimako also led Blinn with two steals. 

Angelina opened the game with a 21-10 lead in the first quarter and extended its lead to 42-20 at the half. 

Blinn outscored Angelina in the third and fourth quarters, holding the Lady Roadrunners to 13 points in each quarter of the second half. The Buccaneers scored 16 points in the third quarter to trail 55-36 heading into the final quarter. Blinn put up 19 points in the fourth quarter to trail Angelina by 13 points at the buzzer.

Next, Blinn women's basketball will conclude the regular season at home against Paris Junior College on Saturday, March 2, at 2 p.m. The Blinn College men's basketball game against Coastal Bend College will follow. Both games will feature Sophomore Day.

Blinn has competed in intercollegiate athletics since 1903 and captured 38 NJCAA national championships since 1987.
