No. 16 Tyler downs Blinn, 71-49

TYLER, Texas — Blinn College women's basketball (7-9, 1-4) fell to Tyler Junior College, 71-49, on Saturday afternoon. 

"We played hard and gave good effort, but just did not make the shots," said Jeff Jenkins, Blinn head coach. "We have to work on shot selection." 

Missy Archie led Blinn's offense with 16 points, while Imani Wimbish-Gay and Kristine Ezimako followed with nine points apiece. Alexus Brigham scored seven points and Mariel Wade scored six. 

Tyler jumped out to an early 15-6 lead in the opening quarter and held a 35-17 lead at the half. 

Tyler continued to lead 52-31 heading into the final quarter. Blinn played its strongest quarter in the fourth by scoring 18 points. 

Blinn will return home to face Bossier Parish Community College on Wednesday, Jan. 16, at 5:30 p.m. Following the women's matchup, the Blinn College men's basketball team will take the court against Angelina College. Both games will feature 50 cent hot dogs, that can be purchased by cash or credit only, for Student Appreciation Night.

Blinn has competed in intercollegiate athletics since 1903 and captured 38 NJCAA national championships since 1987.
