Blinn College women’s basketball defeats Clarendon, 69-58

BEEVILLE, Texas — The Blinn College women's basketball team (3-3) defeated Clarendon College, 69-58, on Saturday afternoon to conclude the Coastal Bend Classic.

"It was good to get the win," said Jeff Jenkins, Blinn head coach. "We made a lot of mistakes, but were able to overcome those. I am proud of these young women."

With the win, the Buccaneers finished the tournament with a 2-1 record.

Missy Archie led Blinn's offense with 18 points, while Alexus Brigham followed with 17. Alexus Wykoff and Imani Wimbish-Gay each chipped in 11 points for the win.

Blinn opened the game with a 17-16 lead in the first quarter, but Clarendon evened the score 32-32 at the half.

The Buccaneers outscored Clarendon, 18-13, in the third quarter to pull ahead 50-45. Blinn continued to outscore Clarendon in the final quarter, 19-13, to ensure the victory.

Next, Blinn will travel to face Victoria College on Monday, Nov. 19, at 5 p.m. 

Blinn has competed in intercollegiate athletics since 1903 and captured 38 NJCAA national championships since 1987.
