Buccaneers suffer one-run losses vs. San Jacinto

BRENHAM, Texas – A pair of one-run victories allowed the San Jacinto Gators to complete a three-game sweep of the Blinn College baseball team Saturday at Leroy Dreyer Field.

San Jacinto defeated Blinn 5-4 and 7-6 one day after beating Blinn 5-4 in Houston on Friday.

San Jacinto's Braden Mattsen hit a solo home run in the sixth inning of the opening game to score the game winner against Blinn freshman Robert Dickey. Dickey allowed four earned runs in six innings, scattering seven hits and a walk. He struck out three.

Robert Garza hit a three-run home run in the second inning.

In the second game, Nolan Brown hit a three-run ninth-inning home run to cut San Jacinto's lead to a single run, but Matt Locus got the final two outs to end the game.

Kevin Santana homered and finished with three RBIs.

Freshman Weston Wick took the tough-luck loss for the Buccaneers, allowing three earned runs over seven innings. Tyler Day threw two innings of relief, allowing two earned runs.

Blinn fell to 15-14 on the season and 6-6 in the Region XIV Conference.

The Buccaneers travel to Waco Tuesday for a 1 p.m. double-header against McLennan Community College.
