LAREDO, Texas – Sophomore right-hander Karl Malecek struck out eight batters and Nolan Brown drove in four runs as the Blinn Buccaneer baseball team defeated Laredo 8-4.

Malecek, a right-hander from North Vancouver, Canada, allowed four earned runs in eight innings. He walked one. Tyler Day threw a scoreless ninth inning.

Brown went 2-for-4 with four RBIs. Brown drove in a run in the second inning with an RBI single, and later added a sacrifice fly and a bases-loaded walk.

Kevin Santana and Scott Jones each went 2-for-4 with an RBI and two runs scored and Montalvo added an RBI. Santana hit a solo home run in the third inning.

The Buccaneers and Palominos will complete the three-game series Saturday with a 1 p.m. double-header.
