Harrison, Adams lead Buccaneers past Angelina, 86-81

LUFKIN, Texas – In 14 years in the Region XIV Conference, Blinn College women's basketball coach Jeff Jenkins had never defeated Angelina College in Lufkin – until tonight.

Jenkins' ninth-ranked Buccaneers defeated the Lady Roadrunners 86-81 here Saturday night as five Bucs scored in double figures.

Sophomore forward Audrisa Harrison and freshman forward Fatima Adams each posted double-doubles with almost identical stat lines. Harrison scored a game-high 21 points and grabbed 10 rebounds, while Adams posted 20 points and 10 boards.

"That's huge," Jenkins said. "They played big tonight. Audrisa battled some foul trouble, but they got to the free throw line tonight, got some offensive put-backs and hit some shots. They're just really good players."

Tierra Tuckers scored 12, Jazzmin Parker posted 11 and Amari Jones added 10.

Angelina (15-10, 7-5), which remains in third place in Region XIV, hit nine 3-pointers and led 41-39 at halftime.

"They shot the ball extremely well," Jenkins said.

The Buccaneers were without guard Danielle Espinoza, who sat due to back spasms.

The win, Blinn's ninth straight, improved the Bucs to 25-1 on the season. The Buccaneers will have the chance to tie the program's single-season wins record Wednesday when they host Kilgore College at 5:30 p.m.
