10th-ranked Buccaneers extend win streak to seven games

KILGORE, Texas – The Kilgore Lady Rangers won the battle to control the pace. The 10th-ranked Blinn Buccaneers won the game.

Blinn defeated Kilgore 58-47 here Saturday in a game that pitted Kilgore's methodical pace against the Buccaneers' frantic offensive style.

Sophomore forward Audrisa Harrison led the Buccaneers with 15 points while grabbing eight rebounds and guard Jazzmin Parker added 14 points in the victory.

Blinn led 31-16 at halftime.

"I thought we played well," said Blinn (23-1, 9-1 in Region XIV) coach Jeff Jenkins said. "They really slow it down and keep possession. They're going to use all 30 seconds of the shot clock, so to me 31 points in the first half is a lot."

Blinn led by as many as 20 in the second half. Freshman forward Fatima Adams scored eight points and grabbed a team-leading 12 rebounds and Tierra Tucker added seven points.

The Buccaneers have now won seven straight since suffering their only loss of the season against third-ranked Trinity Valley.

Amanda Lawson, a transfer from the University of Houston, led Kilgore (9-7, 4-4 in Region XIV) with 15 points.

The Buccaneers' next contest is Feb. 9, when they host Paris Junior College at 4 p.m. in the Blinn P.E. Building.
