Bucs improve to10-0 with win over Southwest Christian

BRENHAM, Texas – The 16th-ranked Blinn Buccaneers extended their season-opening win streak to double digits on Monday.

Blinn defeated Southwest Christian College 80-62 at the Blinn P.E. Building to improve to 10-0 for the first time in head coach Jeff Jenkins' 11 seasons. Blinn started the season 8-0 last year.

Blinn led 48-20 by halftime Monday as 12 different players scored.

"This team is not going to be scared of anybody," Jenkins said. "I just want to make sure they respect everybody, because when you start two 5-9 posts and have 12 freshmen, you can lose to anybody on any given night."

Sophomore guard Aarika Reyna led the Buccaneers with 16 points. Jazzmin Parker, sophomore guard who recently returned from a mild knee injury, added 15.

"Offensively, she's really talented," Jenkins said. "She can put the ball in the hole and pass and draw fouls – she can do everything offensively."

Tierra Tucker scored nine and Audrisa Harrison added eight.

Jaslyn Bradley led Southwest Christian with 16 points.

The Buccaneers host Temple College at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday at the P.E. Building in their final game before Region XIV Conference play begins. On Saturday, the Bucs travel to Paris Junior College for a 4 p.m. tip-off.
