Twelve Bucs score in 85-54 win over San Jacinto

BRENHAM, Texas – Sophomore forward Audrisa Harrison tallied 16 points and 11 of her teammates got on the scoreboard as well as the 10th-ranked Blinn Buccaneers defeated San Jacinto 85-54 Saturday at the Blinn P.E. Building.

Harrison had a double-double on the night with a team-high 10 rebounds, and freshman forward Amari Jones added 14 points.

"Amari has been playing well in practice," said Blinn (21-1, 7-1) coach Jeff Jenkins. "She's 5-11, always plays good defense and I'd say she's our best defender on the perimeter. Now she's starting to hit some open threes and create a little bit."

Blinn led 40-17 by halftime.

"I thought we played well defensively," Jenkins said. "I thought we started out a little slow, but we got a run in the middle of the first half."

Sophomore guard Jazzmin Parker finished the game with 11 points, freshman forward Shanequa Gaston scored nine off the bench and freshman guard Moe Bedford added eight.

Jenkins praised the effort of his bench, which saw production from Khalisha Lee, Michelle Umachi and Darrecia Johnson, among others.

"It was fun to play some kids who haven't gotten a chance to play this semester, and I thought they did well," Jenkins said. "I thought Khali played well and I thought Darrecia played well, and Amachi came in and hit a three right off the bench."

Sophomore point guard Julia Jackson led San Jacinto with 20 points. With the loss, the Gators fell to 6-12 on the season and 1-6 in the Region XIV Conference.
