Adams, unbeaten Buccaneers race past Tyler, 94-71

TYLER, Texas – Freshman forward Fatima Adams scored a season-high 22 points here Saturday to lead the undefeated Blinn College women's basketball team to its 15th consecutive victory, a 94-71 win over Tyler Junior College.

The Buccaneers' fast-paced offense made the difference early, allowing Blinn to jump out to a 53-35 lead by halftime. The Bucs maintained a double-digit lead throughout the second half.

"We shot the ball well and got some baskets in transition," Blinn (15-0, 2-0 in Region XIV) coach Jeff Jenkins said. "We got a few defensive stops early in the game that helped us get into our transition offense."

Adams also led the Buccaneers with 14 rebounds. She was 6-of-6 from the free throw line.

"We found her in transition early on, but as the game went on she really rebounded well and played well on the offensive glass," Jenkins said. "She's one of the best freshman posts I've had in a long time. She's really athletic for a post player."

Adams came into the game averaging 10.3 points per game, good for second on the team. The Bryan Rudder High School product had scored 20 points in two previous games this season.

Sophomore guard Jazzmin Parker scored 14 points while sophomore forward Audrisa Harrison posted a double-double with 13 points and 10 rebounds. Sophomore guard Aarika Reyna hit three 3-pointers to finish with 11 points, Danielle Espinoza scored 10 and Tierra Tucker added eight.
