Two Buccaneers earn individual accolades

Two Blinn College Volleyball players earned individual honors after leading the Buccaneers to five victories last week, including wins over three nationally-ranked teams.

Abolanle Onipede and Jordyn Keamo earned all-Region XIV South Conference player of the week honors after defeating 20th-ranked San Jacinto College and sweeping the two-day Tyler College Invite with a 3-0 defeat of fifth-ranked Western Nebraska Community College, eighth-ranked College of Central Florida, Cowley Community College and Western Texas Community College.

Onipede earned player of the week honors after posting 43 kills with a .461 hitting percentage. Her week included eight blocks and one dig over five matches.

Keamo was named setter of the week after tallying 121 assists, 18 kills, 23 digs and seven blocks. She recorded a .471 hitting percentage.

The No. 3-ranked Buccaneers have posted 25 wins this season and only one loss against No. 1-ranked Tyler Community College. The Bucs will return to action tonight when they host Lee College for a 6 p.m. Region XIV Conference match at the Blinn P.E. Building.
