Buccaneers conclude Tyler College Invite with 12th consecutive victory

The third-ranked Blinn College volleyball teamed concluded Tyler College Invite tournament play Saturday with another 3-0 sweep of both opponents.

The Buccaneers defeated fifth-ranked Western Nebraska Community College 25-21, 25-15, 25-13 behind nine kills and 2 block-assists from Tawnee Luafalemana and eight kills and 10 digs from Trinity Alualu.

Jordyn Keamo added 31 assists, Alyssa LaMont added nine digs and Rebecca Reeve made seven kills, four digs and 2 block-assists.

"This was a big game for us," coach Erin Mellinger said. "Overall, it was a good team effort. I'm proud of them."

The Bucs concluded the tournament with a 3-0 sweep of Western Texas College 25-13, 25-23, 25-23. The defeat was led by Abolanle Onipede with 17 kills. Paloma Da Silva followed with six kills.

Keamo added 16 assists and Justus Tuiolosega added 13 assists.

"We took care of the weekend and overall I'm happy with the results," Mellinger said.

The Buccaneers will return to action Tuesday when they host Lee College for a 6 p.m. Region XIV Conference match at the Blinn P.E. Building.
