Three Blinn women’s soccer players claim all-region honors

Three Blinn College women's soccer players claimed Region XIV honors after leading the Buccaneers in 2019.

Freshman goalkeeper Hope Hillhouse (Amarillo), freshman forward Karson Funderburk (Houston), and sophomore defender Kajol Prasad (Murphy) earned all-honorable mention.

"Receiving awards like this reflects well on the progress of the program and these three players represented the team well from start to finish this season," said Michael McBride, Blinn head coach. "They exemplified what we are looking for in our student-athletes and it is nice that coaches in our conference recognize that Blinn College has players worthy of regional honors."

Hillhouse played in 15 games and led the Buccaneers with 101 saves and six wins. She was second in the region with a .835 save percentage and third in total saves and goals against with 20.

Prasad was the only sophomore to earn the honor after playing strong defense in 16 starts for the Buccaneers. She recorded one assist, shots on goal and a .714 shot on goal percentage. In two seasons at Blinn, she totaled 32 starts.

Funderburk was an offensive leader for Blinn, starting in 16 games. She was second on the team with seven goals, first on the team with four assists and posted a .667 shots on goal percentage.

Blinn finished the season with a 6-9-1 overall record and 4-7-1 conference record.
