Blinn women’s soccer blanks Cisco, 3-0

CISCO, Texas — Blinn College women's soccer (4-5, 2-4) played a strong game on offense and defense to defeat Cisco College, 3-0, on Sunday afternoon.

"The girls came out ready to play and we were the most dominant team on the field the entire game," said Alex Jackson, Blinn assistant coach. "We got a well-deserved win and recorded our second shutout of the season, so we are excited about moving into the second half of the conference season."

Blinn's offense dominated by outshooting the Wranglers 10-4. Janay Wilson, Kaley Kaspar and Karson Funderburk each scored a goal, while Kaspar, Funderburk and Caitlynn West recorded one assist apiece.

Hope Hillhouse had another strong performance on defense, recording the shutout with four saves.

After a scoreless first half, Blinn broke through Cisco's wall to score three goals. Kasper assisted Wilson in scoring the first goal in the 56th minute. Funderburk assisted Kasper in Blinn's next goal in the 67th minute. Blinn's final goal was scored in the 70th minute by Funderburk, who was assisted by West.

Next, Blinn will resume conference play against No. 9 Navarro College on Tuesday, Oct. 1, at 4 p.m. on the road.

Blinn has competed in intercollegiate athletics since 1903 and captured 41 NJCAA national championships since 1987.
