Funderburk scores two goals for Blinn in shutout of Paris, 2-0

PARIS, Texas — Karson Funderburk scored two goals to help lead the Blinn College women's soccer team (6-8, 4-7) to a 2-0 shutout win over Paris Junior College on Sunday afternoon.

"It was a very physical game and our girls had a very good, disciplined performance," said Michael McBride, Blinn head coach. "Scoring two goals and having a clean sheet on the road is something we are very happy about." 

Goalie Hope Hillhouse recorded six saves in Blinn's fourth shutout this season. 

Kaley Kaspar helped out on offense with three shots and Janay Wilson recorded an assist. 

Wilson assisted Funderburk in Blinn's first goal in the 18th minute for the Buccaneers to take an early 1-0 lead. Blinn extended its lead to 2-0 when Funderburk scored in the 56th minute. The Buccaneers held onto the 2-0 advantage for the remainder of the game.

Next, Blinn will return home to face off against No. 14 Louisiana State University Eunice in a non-conference match on Wednesday, Oct. 23, at 5 p.m. at Rankin Field. 

Blinn has competed in intercollegiate athletics since 1903 and captured 41 NJCAA national championships since 1987.
