Blinn women’s soccer defeats Jacksonville in overtime thriller, 2-1

JACKSONVILLE, Texas — Kaley Kasper scored two goals to lift the Blinn College women's soccer team (1-3, 1-2) to its first win of the season against Jacksonville College on Sunday afternoon. Kasper scored a golden goal in overtime to give the Buccaneers a 2-1 victory over the Jaguars.

Goalie Hope Hillhouse was strong on defense for the Buccaneers, recording five saves in the game.

"We are happy to get our first win, but it wasn't our best performance," said Michael McBride, Blinn head coach.

The game remained scoreless until the 80th minute when Kasper scored a goal for Blinn. Jacksonville pushed the game into overtime by scoring in the 89th minute.

Kasper scored Blinn's next goal in the 93rd minute for the Buccaneers to seal the win.

Next, the Buccaneers will compete against Mountain View College in its home opener at Rankin Field on Tuesday, Sept. 10, at 5 p.m. The men's team will take the field against Mountain View at 7 p.m.

Blinn has competed in intercollegiate athletics since 1903 and captured 41 NJCAA national championships since 1987.
