Blinn women’s soccer earns win with 2-0 shutout of Paris

BRENHAM, Texas — On Sunday afternoon at Rankin Field, second-half goals from freshman forward Kaley Kasper helped lead Blinn College women's soccer (3-4, 2-3) past Paris Junior College, 2-0.

"It was a great bounce-back victory and we created a lot of chances which was nice to see," said Michael McBride, Blinn head coach. "We played with a lot of intensity in a positive environment, so I am thrilled."

Kasper led the Buccaneers with 12 shots and two goals, while Illora Molina and Carla Garcia each recorded an assist. Bethany Sorenson recorded four shots and three shots on goal.

On defense, Hope Hillhouse led Blinn to a shutout with three saves.

Blinn and Paris both used a strong defense to keep the game scoreless in the first half. The breakthrough finally came at the 55th minute as Molina began the scoring play and Kasper finished it for Blinn to lead 1-0. In the 62nd minute, Garcia assisted Kasper in Blinn's final goal.

Next, the Buccaneers will compete against No. 9 Navarro College on Tuesday, Sept. 17, at 5 p.m.

Blinn has competed in intercollegiate athletics since 1903 and captured 41 NJCAA national championships since 1987.
