Blinn women’s soccer falls to No. 2 Tyler

TYLER, Texas — Blinn College women's soccer (0-3, 0-2) fell to No. 2 Tyler Junior College, 6-0, on Friday night. 

"It was a competitive game and the team is progressing," said Michael McBride, Blinn head coach. "We are still chasing that first win, but should get there soon."

Blinn's defense held the Apaches to three goals in the first half and three goals in the second half. Abigail Ritter recorded five saves and Hope Hillhouse totaled six. 

Tyler built an early lead, scoring in the second, 17th and 36th minutes, for a 3-0 advantage at the halfway mark.  

In the second half, the Apaches scored their first goal in the 70th minute. Tyler recorded its final two goals in the 81st and 83rd minutes

Next, the Buccaneers will travel to play Jacksonville College in a conference match on Sunday, September 8, at 2 p.m. The men's soccer game will follow at 4 p.m. 

Blinn has competed in intercollegiate athletics since 1903 and captured 41 NJCAA national championships since 1987.
