Blinn women’s soccer falls to No. 9 Navarro, 2-0

BRENHAM, Texas — On Tuesday night at Rankin Field, No. 9 Navarro College scored twice in the second half to grab a 2-0 win over Blinn College women's soccer (3-5, 2-4).

"I am really disappointed that a couple of individual mistakes took the win away from us because our overall performance tonight was good," said Michael McBride, Blinn head coach. "Hope Hillhouse was great out there. Her position, kicking and communication were all good."

On defense, Hillhouse and Abigail Ritter each recorded five saves, while Karson Funderbunk led Blinn on offense with four shots.

After a scoreless first half, Navarro scored in the 55th minute to take a 1-0 lead. In the 68th minute, the Bulldogs scored their second goal to take a 2-0 advantage.

Next, the Buccaneers will travel to face Cisco College on Sunday, Sept. 29, at 2 p.m.

Blinn has competed in intercollegiate athletics since 1903 and captured 41 NJCAA national championships since 1987.
