No. 24 Blinn concludes regular season with 66-60 win over Paris

PARIS, Texas — The No. 24 Blinn College women's basketball team (24-6, 13-5) concluded the regular season with a 66-60 win over Paris Junior College on Saturday afternoon for a second-place finish in conference.

Blinn finished the regular season with a 24-6 overall record and 13-5 conference record for the No. 2 seed heading into the Region XIV Tournament.

"Kristine Ezimako and our defense were dominant in the second half," said Jeff Jenkins, Blinn head coach. "I am so proud of this team's desire to win. Nothing went right for us offensively or defensively in the first half and they never stopped believing."

Ezimako scored a team-high 25 points, while Gabriela Bosquez followed with 12. Hailey Atwood was next with nine, and Mia Cherry and Alanna Spencer each scored six.

Blinn got off to a slow start, falling behind Paris 17-13 in the opening quarter and 38-24 at the half, but the Buccaneers were able to come back for the win.

The Buccaneers began to rally in the third quarter, outscoring Paris 21-7, to tie the game 45-45. The Buccaneers added another 21 points, while limiting Paris to 15, to finish off the Lady Dragons in the final quarter.

Next, the Buccaneers will complete against the No. 7 seed, Paris, at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, March 4.

Blinn has competed in intercollegiate athletics since 1903 and captured 41 NJCAA national championships since 1987.
