Blinn women’s basketball downs Temple, 70-61

TEMPLE, Texas — Kristine Ezimako and Gabriela Bosquez each scored 13 points on Wednesday night to help lead the Blinn College women's basketball team (3-0) to a 70-61 victory over Temple College for the Buccaneers to stay undefeated.

"We played extremely hard and to win against a well-coached team like Temple College on the road is a big win," said Jeff Jenkins, Blinn head coach.

Alanna Spencer followed closely behind Ezimako and Bosquez with 12 points, Briauna Johnson was next with eight, and Jessica Soders chipped in seven.

Blinn and Temple played a close first quarter, but the Buccaneers were able to grab a one-point lead to head into the second quarter ahead 16-15. Blinn built its lead to 34-24 at the halfway mark by outscoring Temple 18-9 in the second quarter.

The Buccaneers kept the momentum rolling in the third quarter as they scored 22 points to stay on top 57-31. Temple rallied for 30 points in the final quarter, but the Buccaneers were able to hold onto the lead for the win.

Next, the Buccaneers will travel to take on Palo Alto College on Saturday, Nov. 9, at 1 p.m.

Blinn has competed in intercollegiate athletics since 1903 and captured 41 NJCAA national championships since 1987.
