Blinn women’s basketball downs Collin County, 72-64

PLANO, Texas — The Blinn College women's basketball team (12-3, 1-2) downed Collin County Community College, 72-64, on Thursday night.

"We had a lot of adversity with foul trouble tonight and made defensive and offensive plays in the last five minutes to come away with a good road win," said Jeff Jenkins, Blinn head coach. "Jessica Soders was exceptional with three defensive charges."

Gabriela Bosquez led Blinn's offense with 17 points, while Mia Cherry followed with 13. Soders scored nine points and Kristine Ezimako chipped in eight.

The Buccaneers opened the first quarter with a 23-21 lead, but Collin County outscored Blinn in the second quarter to hold a one-point (36-35) advantage at the half.

Blinn took back a 50-47 lead in the third quarter, and in the fourth quarter, the Buccaneers outscored Collin County 22-17 for the win.

Next, the Buccaneers will resume conference play against Coastal Bend College on Wednesday, January 8, at 5:30 p.m. on the road.

Blinn has competed in intercollegiate athletics since 1903 and captured 41 NJCAA national championships since 1987.
