Buccaneers lose to Panola in conference opener, 70-52

CARTHAGE, Texas — The Blinn College women's basketball team (9-2, 0-1) lost its first conference game of the season to Panola College, 70-52, on Wednesday night. 

"We turned the ball over too much and missed open shots," said Jeff Jenkins, Blinn head coach. 

Kristine Ezimako led the Buccaneers with a team-high 18 points.

Panola jumped out to a 21-8 start in the first quarter and held a 38-19 lead at the break. In the third quarter, Blinn outscored Panola 17-15, but the Fillies stayed on top, 53-36. Panola held the lead during the final quarter to earn a 70-52 victory.

Next, Blinn will return home to continue conference play against Kilgore College on Saturday, December 7, at 2 p.m. in the Kruse Center. The Blinn men's basketball game will follow at 4 p.m. when the Buccaneers take on No. 13 Tyler Junior College.

Blinn has competed in intercollegiate athletics since 1903 and captured 41 NJCAA national championships since 1987.
