No. 10 Tyler defeats No. 24 Blinn, 75-68

TYLER, Texas — The No. 24 Blinn College women's basketball team (20-6, 9-5) fell to No. 10 Tyler Junior College, 75-68, on Saturday afternoon.

"Our kids played hard and the mistakes we made today we can correct," said Jeff Jenkins, Blinn head coach. "I am very proud of their effort and fight."

Mia Cherry led Blinn with 15 points, Kristine Ezimako scored 14, and Gabriela Bosquez tallied 13.

Blinn grabbed an early lead against Tyler and entered the second quarter ahead 19-17. Both teams racked up over 20 points in the second quarter, but Tyler was able to outscore Blinn by four points to pull ahead 43-41 at the break.

In the third quarter, Tyler built its lead to 61-52. Blinn came back to outscore Tyler 16-14 in the fourth quarter, but couldn't catch the Apache Ladies.

Next, the Buccaneers will return home to face off against Bossier Parish Community College on Wednesday, Feb. 19, at 5:30 p.m. in the Kruse Center. The Blinn men's basketball team will conclude Wednesday's doubleheader against Coastal Bend College.

Blinn has competed in intercollegiate athletics since 1903 and captured 41 NJCAA national championships since 1987.
